"Every answer to every problem you have ever faced is in print. All the mistakes you will ever make in your life have already been made by those that have walked before you. Do you really think that the challenges you are facing are unique to you? All the problems anyone has ever, and will ever face over the course of their lifetime have already been made. More importantly, the answers and solutions are all recorded on the pages of books. Read the right books. Learn how those who have preceded you have handled the challenges you are currently facing. Apply their strategies for success and you will be astonished by the improvements you will note in your life."
From the book "The Monk who sold his Ferrari" by Robin S. Sharma

I´m a total bookworm. I read everything from glamorous chic lit to Nobel prize winners to self development books. The latter category being sometimes unfairely misjudged. It´s easy to dismiss a self help book just by the category. The truth is there is a world full of fantastic, uplifting, life changing books just waiting to be read by the right reader at the right time in life, I say. And it´s so easy and accessible. But choose wiseley and do some research before. I love the passage cited above because it is so honest when saying that we´re not alone, everything is already in print and that by reading the right books we can apply new strategies for success in life, and be astonished by the improvements in our lives. I know I have been. What do you think about self development books and do you have a favourite one to recommend?

Have a GLORIOUS Thursday!

  2. I do agree .. to choose wisely and do a little research. Books can also be pricey and if it turns out it's not what you expected .. then it's such a waste. When I was younger I read some of the self improvement books but not so much anymore. I just finished Beautiful Ruins and now I going to start a Paris love story.

  4. Nothing like a good book! I recently read How Will You Measure Your Life and it's really interesting. DVF autobiography is one of the most uplifting and inspiring readings I had. BTW, now you DO have to visit Bonn! ;) Thanks so much for your lovely words, darling! Europe, here I come! :D xoxo

  5. I read a lot too and like you the books I read are a huge variety. I read self development books too. I have found that for the most part there are some helpful information in them although none have been life changing for me so far. The last self development book that I recently read was The Happiness Project.

  8. Oh I really love this post, it's such good advice and so true, literature is full of similar experiences long before the self-help books, which I pretty much read all the time in some form or another--it's sad they have such a bad rap, because the good ones can really can be so great.

  9. Book loooover too. How great? Must advice to read american writer Douglas Kennedy. Many of his books are in New England/university settings which I tend to love, like "Leavning the world". Just great!

    Love
